Boston, Ma (August 2, 2010) - Our second annual New England Wild West Fest photo contest elicited numerous prize worthy photos, each unique in capturing a memorable rodeo moment during the northeast’s greatest summer rodeo.

After combing through more than 800 photos, our committee has chosen Tom McGinty as this year’s winner. What makes a photograph a Cowboy Spirit winner? It’s not always the perfect extension seen in a bucking bull, but a story captured in a single frame like the one below.

Timing, clarity, and impact, congratulations to Tom McGinty who has won two tickets to the 2010 Cape Cod Stampede for his outstanding work!

The 3rd Annual New England Wild West Fest drew world-class contestants from across the country, each showing up spurring for a cure and making 2010 the best NEWWF yet at the historic Marshfield Fairgrounds.

The SACF is thrilled to have made its signature event a pre-cowboy Christmas kick-off destination on the Pro Rodeo trail and looks forward to equaling its success with its sister rodeo, the Cape Cod Stampede. The CCS will be held at the Barnstable County Fairgrounds in East Falmouth August 14th-15th and count as two separate one-day events for contestants.

Team Cowboy Spirit riders Jerod Johnston, Scotty NeSmith, Clovis Crane, Justin Browning, and Wesley Goncalves each nodded for 8, competing in the SACF’s debut Ride4Charity Challenge.

The stands packed, the fans happy, and the pens evenly matched, the Massachusetts Pro Rodeo presented by Eaton Vance and State Street Corporation saw some of the biggest names in rodeo including 2008 World Champion bareback rider, Justin McDaniel, DeMoss brothers, Cody and Heith, each Wrangler National Finals Rodeo finalists, and witnessed a record setting 89 point ride by the one they call Hawkeye himself, Mr. Heith DeMoss.

John Constantinople, Bull Riding Director for the SACF, was presented with the Spirit of ’36 Award during a special concert performance by country singer, Sean Patrick McGraw. Distinguishing those who have made significant cowboy contributions and left their brand on the northeast, the Spirit of ’36 Award honors those who embody courage, strength, innovation, and honor, all of which its recipient has shown over his illustrious career.

This year, the Lil’ Buckaroos rodeo raised its game, bucking two junior bull riders from its chutes, while still enjoying America’s favorite calf scramble fun. The barbeque sweet and sizzlin’, the 3rd Annual BBQ and Chili Cook-Off contest went to Porky’s BBQ and M&M Ribs.

Carolina crooner Luke Kaufman left his mark not only on New England, but on the cowboys he played for at the McGreal’s Tavern after-party and cookout held at the Tulis Ranch. Expect big things from this talented singer/songwriter and meet him again in August at the Cape Cod Stampede as the SACF continues to bring cowboy spirit to the northeast.

For more information on the SACF and its rodeos, please visit www.CowboySpirit.org. Tickets for the Cape Cod Stampede Pro Rodeo can be purchased at www.TicketWeb.com.

BOSTON, Ma. (April 20, 2010) – The Spirit of the American Cowboy Foundation through its Cowboys4Kids program is thrilled to announce its collaboration with the Starlight Children’s Foundation, an organization that hosts monthly great escapes to brighten the lives of seriously ill children and their families.

This year the New England Wild West Fest has been chosen as one of Starlight’s summer Great Escapes, which are family activities that give sick children, siblings, and their parents an opportunity to take a break from their daily challenges.

Dubbed the “Cowboy Great Escape,” Starlight participants will enjoy the day’s festivities and create priceless family memories together away from the hospital and clinical settings, breathing in the sweet smell of bulls, BBQ, and fresh air instead.

Each year Starlight New England serves over 100,000 seriously ill children and their families through five New England states and sixty regional hospitals.

It is the belief of the Spirit of the American Cowboy Foundation that rodeo reaches its highest calling when put forth in the name of a charitable cause and we are honored to host the utmost brave and special group of children and their families.

Inspired by the battle fought and won by an exceedingly courageous young cancer patient and colleague’s son, Ian Emery, combined with his love for rodeo, the SACF was born.

Raising over $70,000 in its first three years for pediatric cancer research, the Spirit of the American Foundation continues to grow and help those in need eight seconds at a time.

A graduate of the University of Denver with a degree in finance, this Boston investment manager by day and cowboy by weekend, enjoys passing on his family’s horseback riding tradition to his kids – one, a barrel racer in the making.

Enjoy your summers at the New England Wild West Fest and Cape Cod Stampede, two Cowboy Spirit signature events benefiting an exceptional cause while at the same time celebrating America’s greatest legacy sport. Long live rodeo.
